We spent Hogmanay quietly by the fire, glasses of sparkly in hand, watching the BBC production of The Turn of the Screw - quite nicely spooky for a winter night! I managed to concentrate enough on my Wavy Scarf (Handmaiden Designs) to finish it before the old year was up.

The two teenage daughters were out at separate parties, needing collecting around 2 a.m., so we saw the New Year well and truly in but without too much merry-making ourselves!
Each Boxing Day or New Year's Day it has become a tradition for us to visit the 'goats along the canal' and take them festive fare, usually in the form of 'Celebrations' chocolates but today we brought fudge. Chris and the kids cycled and I ran behind them (trying out my new Garmin gadget (and mainly trying to locate a satellite!). As it turned out, the three goats had become two big spotty sheep neither of whom liked fudge but one of whom liked shortbread.
It was very cold and icy, the muddy canal towpath frozen into slippery ruts - fun to cycle over not so good under foot!
Traditional Scottish Ne'er Day dinner warmed us up again: steak pie and then trifle!
